After chatting with her and her son for several minutes another patient caught my eye. He was also being released and was holding tight a bright red Shumsky Heart Pillow. He joined our conversation also telling me how much he loved his pillow and that he was so happy they were made in the United States. “So few things are anymore,” he said.

I left the hospital feeling very blessed to work for a company that not only provides a quality product, but that brings so much comfort to the people that receive them. :)

Until next time…

Holidays are a time for love, laughter, joy and giving! This past week, the Miami Valley showed that even though times are tough, they are still willing to give to a good cause.

November 21st-23rd, The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton was the setting for The K99.1 FM Cares for Kids Radiothon. This 3 day event involves countless hours of preparation, volunteer’s time and stories of hope from young children and families. Our very own Heather Craaybeek was even on hand to paint faces! Thanks to the generosity of our community, the radiothon raised $200,410.00 to help purchase new medical equipment. Visit our Facebook page for pictures of the radiothon and Heather’s painted faces!

In this same spirit of giving, our employees brought in donations for a local food bank in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. We are continuing our efforts by collecting items for another local charity in the weeks leading up to Christmas. This year, take a break from searching the mall for the perfect gift and search your closet for an extra coat and hat. Remember…”Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” ~ Janice Maeditere

Until next time…
