CAUSES WE SUPPORT:
The Therapeutic Pillows (TP) Team recently had the opportunity to lend a hand to two customers who organize humanitarian efforts around the globe. In February, we received a request from Brigham & Women’s Hospital in
Boston for a few Heart Pillows for a trip they were organizing to operate in Rwanda. In talking with them, the TP Team learned that the life expectancy in Rwanda is only 44 years, and rheumatic heart disease, an easily preventable and treatable condition in developed countries, kills many young people every year in Africa. Brigham & Women’s “Team Heart” planned to perform heart valve surgery on 18 young adults, and the TP Team was happy to provide custom-branded Heart Pillows at no cost. The trip was very successful, and Brigham & Women’s “Team Heart” was kind enough to send a picture of a couple of the patients whose lives they saved.
On an annual basis, TP also donates Heart Pillows to the University of North Carolina Hospital for their trip to Uganda. We make the pillows with “Carolina Blue” fabric and we imprint their team logo on the pillow. Like Rwanda, Uganda is a country with enormous need, and it’s been a humbling experience for the TP Team to help in even this small way.
